Bell Ringing practise Thursdays 7PM (not in August)

Come along and give this a try, no previous experience needed as we will show newcomers the ropes, but of course, we would welcome anyone who has done this before.

When the nation was out clapping for the NHS and to mark their 73 rd anniversary, did you hear the church bells ringing?

When we ring for such occasions, there is a great feeling of honour at being a part of a national celebration.

Bell ringing is more than practicing and ringing for a service. We also ring for weddings and funerals if requested.

Moreover, there are many other important occasions when we ring, such as royal events (weddings, funerals, births, and anniversaries), memorial times as the 1 st and 2 nd world wars, and remembrance Sunday.

Were you aware that during 2014-2018 we rang at Hartest on every 100th anniversary of one of our local fallen soldiers? At Glemsford, because there were many more deaths bells were rung every month to mark their fallen. If you would like to be part of our dedicated team to carry on this wonderful privilege, we are more than happy to help anyone of any age to learn to ring; (at Hartest, we now have a nice new staircase to access the ringing chamber). Over the past few years, young people have used bell ringing as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.
