On Saturday 23 June the well-loved local orchestra, CHURCHGATE SINFONIA, held a concert in Hartest Church in aid of the recently revived Friends of Hartest Church. They played a string concerto by Stravinsky, Bach's double violin concerto and Dvorak's serenade for wind instruments, which sent everyone skipping out to have chilled rose in the marquee on the green. It was a very popular event, and about 90 people came. Prior to the concert, which began at 6.30, there were delicious cream teas and cakes served in the marquee:- many kind cooks contributed to these. It was a very happy occasion, lovely to see the Church full of people and made such good use of, and it is always very special to party on our beautiful village green. The evening's takings were £1380.50, which is a fantastic amount to go towards the maintenance and restoration of Hartest Church. Huge thanks to everyone who helped!
