Official launch of Localgiving.com welcomed by Suffolk’s voluntary sector
Localgiving.com received a warm welcome from the Suffolk voluntary and community sector this week when The Suffolk Foundation hosted the official launch of the donation website, in the iconic Waterfront building at the University Campus Suffolk.
With a beautiful panoramic view of the waterfront, 40 local Suffolk community groups enjoyed an evening of networking and nibbles and welcomed the opportunity to find out how Localgiving.com would benefit their voluntary group by showcasing what they are doing in their local community.
The Suffolk Foundation has partnered with Localgiving.com to offer support and guidance to local groups in Suffolk who wish to set up a Localgiving.com donation webpage. Designed specifically for ultra-local charities and community groups, Localgiving.com encourages people to give locally and provides a great opportunity for community groups to raise their profile online and start generating a new online support group. Open to both charities and voluntary groups, Localgiving.com enables groups to receive donations with the added benefit of Gift Aid being automatically processed.
Having been introduced into Suffolk only a couple of months ago, there are already 28 groups in Suffolk on Localgiving.com, which have raised nearly £9,000 through the website. Of the 28 groups, Iceni Ipswich is the latest to join Localgiving.com. Offering support to families affected by addiction Iceni have an important role in their local community. As Brian Tobin, the Director of Iceni who attended the launch of Localgiving.com explained, “It is always pleasing when local people choose to donate to Iceni as it shows us that we are a valued part of our community. We hope that Localgiving.com will provide a new, quick and easy way for people to find out more about our project and donate if they wish to.”
